The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking a Junior Associate, Improving Consumption of Animal Source Foods project (ASF) to provide administrative support across a wide range of functions within the ASF project. This role will be offered on a full-time permanent basis, subject to availability of funding and will be based in Beira, Mozambique.
GAIN is a Swiss-based foundation that was launched in 2002 to tackle the human suffering caused by malnutrition. Working with both governments and businesses, we aim to transform food systems so that they deliver more nutritious food for all people. In particular, we aim to make healthier food choices more desirable, more available, and more affordable. GAIN’s mission is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially those most vulnerable to malnutrition.
Improving consumption of Animal Source Foods(ASF) project, aims to improve diet quality by increasing consumption of animal source foods of 1,1 million bottom of pyramid consumers in Beira and Nacala corridors by supporting its desirability, affordability and accessibility in urban, peri-urban and rural areas. Specifically, the project will (a) deliver a demand generation campaign, (b) support development of last mile distribution system and (c) support policy enabling environment for sustainable impact of the interventions.
Reporting to the ASF Senior Project Manager, the Junior Associate will provide administrative support across a wide range of functions including supporting the ASF Manager with e-contracting tool process, initiating and following-up with contracting parties and respective contract approvers, signing of contracts uploading all necessary documents to share point in liaison with necessary stakeholders. The Junior associate will actively contribute to knowledge management in the ASF project team.
The ideal candidate should have an understanding of the agribusiness or food value chain landscape in Mozambique combined with basic business development skills. They should be able to provide administrative support to multiple stakeholders across the project. The candidate should be detail oriented and able to provide field support.
The post holder should demonstrate systematic thinking with good sense of judgement, problem solving and creativity. Business development experience would be an added advantage. Ability to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure business support.
You should possess good negotiation skills with ability to support the project manager in engaging contractors and vendors to deliver high quality results. The candidate should have an education background in Food Technology, Agribusiness, Business Management, Entrepreneurship & SME management and/or relevant technical field or work experience.
The starting gross salary on offer for this role is from USD14,894 – USD17,037 per annum, depending on experience. Other benefits are as attached below the job description.
