Pump Maintenance Supervisor

The Ponticelli is seeking a Pump Maintenance Supervisor.

Position Summary

The Pump Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and inspection of industrial pumps to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime. This role involves managing a team of maintenance technicians, scheduling preventive and corrective maintenance activities, troubleshooting pump issues, and ensuring that all work is completed safely and in compliance with industry standards. The supervisor plays a critical role in minimizing operational disruptions and extending the service life of the equipment.

Supervision & Leadership:

• Lead and supervise a team of pump maintenance technicians, providing guidance, training, and mentorship to improve team performance.
• Plan and delegate daily tasks and responsibilities, including inspections, routine maintenance, and repairs.
• Conduct performance evaluations, manage team schedules, and handle personnel issues as needed.

Maintenance Planning & Scheduling:

• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all types of pumps, including centrifugal, reciprocating, and positive displacement pumps.
• Coordinate maintenance activities to minimize operational disruptions and align with production schedules.
• Prioritize corrective maintenance tasks and emergency repairs to ensure critical equipment remains operational.

Pump Inspection, Testing & Repair:

• Oversee the routine inspection and testing of pumps to identify potential issues and ensure proper operation.
• Diagnose mechanical and hydraulic issues such as cavitation, vibration, leakage, or inefficiencies, and determine corrective actions.
• Supervise the repair, replacement, or overhaul of pump components such as bearings, seals, impellers, and shafts.
• Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to manufacturer specifications, industry standards (API, ISO), and company policies.

Troubleshooting & Technical Suppor:

• Act as the subject matter expert for pump-related issues, providing technical guidance and troubleshooting support to the maintenance team.
• Collaborate with other departments (engineering, operations, production) to resolve complex pump issues and optimize equipment performance.
• Analyze maintenance records and performance data to identify trends and recommend improvements.

Safety & Compliance:

• Ensure that all pump maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with safety regulations, including OSHA standards, and internal safety protocols.
• Conduct regular safety meetings, training sessions, and inspections to promote a safe work environment.
• Maintain and enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure compliance with lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures during pump maintenance.

Profile Wanted

Education:

• High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in mechanical maintenance, industrial technology, or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in pump maintenance, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
• Extensive knowledge of different types of pumps, their operation, and maintenance requirements.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations (API, ISO, OSHA, etc.).

Skills

• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Expertise in pump troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.
• Solid understanding of hydraulics, mechanical systems, and vibration analysis.
• Proficient in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to track maintenance activities.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
