Position Summary

Purpose

The primary responsibility of this position is to support the senior machinists in the machine shop.

Duties & Responsibilities

Functions

Essential

• Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment.
• Maintain all required records, documentation and certification of machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Follow and carry out company operating procedures, safety rules (ensure personal protective equipment) is used, API and ISO requirements.
• Complete work on time to ensure coordination of purchasing, production, and shipping.
• Operates safety equipment and uses safe work habits while performing his job function.
• Maintain a clean and safe shop/work area.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Reporting Relationship

• • Reports to Machine Shop Lead.
  • May take direction from more senior/lead machinist.

Qualifications

Required

• Possess basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills. (Normally acquired through a high school).
• Possess knowledge of methods, materials, tools and techniques used in equipment repair and maintenance.
• Possess basic inventory skills.
• Capable to follow company operating procedures, safety rules, API and ISO requirements.
• Must have a general knowledge of metals and the quality and machine-ability and uses of metals, alloys, and other materials.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

Desired

• Machinining experience a plus.
• Effectively communicate in English (verbally and in writing) is a plus.

Working Conditions

This position is considered SHOP/INDOOR WORK which is characterized as follows.

• Primarily indoors during the day and occasionally at night.
• Frequently working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment.
• When outdoors, humidity is frequently above 90%
• Noise is over 85 decibels.
• Light is intense/glare.
• Occasional exposure to open fire/flames/sparks.
• Frequent exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases.
