Role synopsis:

Manages and controls the CoW process in their area. The Area Authorities (AAs) are accountable for task, process and worksite hazard identification and risk control measures associated with work performance in their area of responsibility. The position is also to train members of the workforce such that they are ready for assessment as Area Authority and Issuing Authority. Lastly, it is to provide general coaching on all aspects of Control of Work to the offshore workforce

Key accountabilities:

Primary role is to train personnel ready for assessment in AA and IA roles, and provide coaching to the workforce in the requirements of the Control of Work procedure. In addition to this, the role is to provide additional AA resource to existing AA’s and act as back-up during period of high demand.

  1. When supporting existing AA, then responsibilities are:
  2. Acts as the Installation focus point for Control of Work and champions compliance with the Control of Work procedure;
  3. Manages and controls the site’s CoW process;
  4. As are accountable for task, process, and worksite hazard identification and risk control measures associated with work performance and isolations implemented/removed in their area of responsibility;
  5. Develop the area competence in Control of Work to AA, IA, IsA and PA standard through coaching and mentoring;
  6. Support the execution of the activity plan through the delivery of CoW requirements;
  7. Develop and approve TAR CoW strategies, reviewing and approving permits and IDPs in-line with TAR execution plan;
  8. Support the planning process, review plans for compliance with CoW gate criteria;
  9. Through self-verification identify gaps within the CoW process for the site and put in place the action required to resolve;
  10. Support Continuous Improvement culture for CoW and develop and maintain healthy working interfaces with CoW Central Team.

Essential Education:

High School or Technical Training

Essential experience and job requirements:

  1. Minimum of 3-5 years experience in Area Authority role;
  2. At least 10 years experience in use of Control of Work in assessed role – such as Performing Authority or Isolating Authority;
  3. Plant and process experience;
  4. Detailed knowledge and understanding of the UP CoW procedure;
  5. Experiences – work experience in CoW;
  6. Detailed knowledge and understanding of the UP CoW procedure;
  7. Experiences – work experience in CoW;
  8. Detailed knowledge and understanding of the UP CoW procedure.

Other Requirements (e.g. Travel, Location):

28X28 offshore rotation in Angola. Travel to offshore location is via boat.

Desirable criteria & qualifications:

  1. Knowledgeable in BP Control of Work Procedure;
  2. Experience of training and coaching.
