Heading Moz is recruiting for its client, an Solid Waste Management Company, a Finanacial Manager (M/F) to be based in Pemba.
Suitable candidates must fulfill the following inherent requirements:
B. Com Degree and a registered C.A;
Related Management Accounting qualification;
Fulfilled similar role with at least 5 years’ senior financial experience;
Monthly or bi-weekly travel to Mozambique for periods of one to two weeks per month. This may be extended based on operational requirements.
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience
Analytically orientated;
Attention to detail;
Reconciling physical activity to financial performance (activity-based costing);
Expert MS Office Skills;
Valid Driver’s License.
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Analysis of the financial results of the region;
Analysis and explanation of management accounts to budgets and forecasts;
Finalizing inter-depot charges;
Development and measurement of regional production KPI’s;
Presentation of financial results to management;
Controlling all orders against budget;
Preparation of annual budget and bi-annual forecast;
Ensuring compliance to internal controls at depot level;
Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition;
Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances;
Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements. Variance analysis;
Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting;
Research technical accounting issues for compliance;
Support month-end and year-end close process;
Liaising with external auditors.
Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls;
Additional controller duties as necessary;
Calculate and prepare annual tax returns;
Liaise with KPMG in Maputo to prepare the following statutory returns; return of earnings M20, balance of accounts M22, payment returns M39;
Liaise with PWC in Maputo in respect of tax and legal compliance issues as well as tax audit query advise;
Prepare and coordinate with Deloitte in Maputo for compilation of the Annual Financial Statements;
Liaise and coordinate with Deloitte in Maputo for auditing of the Annual Financial Statements;
Coordinate with KPMG in Maputo for compilation of the Annual Handwritten DAF Books and sent trial balances monthly;
Payments: Register all service type contracts with the Department of finance and obtain a binding opinion in respect of Withholding Tax on Double Taxation Treaty;
Payments: Obtain tax clearance certificates for all cross-border payments;
Coordinate all service and goods type payments to Interwaste in South Africa.
Exports to Mozambique: develop and review the export document control and administration processes inclusive of export registers and export files. Ensure compliance to all applicable laws.
Review the balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis for accuracy and completeness.
Ensure a local Portuguese chart of accounts is maintained as described by Mozambican law.
Ensure invoicing complies with IVA legislation.
Review the monthly IVA returns submitted to the Department of Finance.
Review the monthly payroll journals and statutory deductions and ensure compliance on submissions and payments.
Review and coordinate the expatriation of expat salary payments by Moz Environmental to IW.
Prepare the daily cashflow requirements of Moz Environmental.
Manage local debtor collections
Working capital management in line with cash flow projections
Obtain quarterly updates of the Commercial Certificate.
Ensure the Registered Address of Moz Environmental are maintained.
Advise management on any changes to local content laws in Mozambique.
