Legal Advisor

Grupo Simples is recruiting a Legal Advisor to be part of their time.The selected candidate will be responsible to provide comprehensive legal support and counsel to the company, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and mitigating legal risks. Among the core duties, the Legal Advisor will handle contract management, support regulatory compliance, litigation, and advising on industry standards.This position demands a comprehensive understanding of the oil and gas industry, including exploration, production, and distribution processes, as well as the ability to work effectively with cross-functional departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Drafting documents, letters, contracts and overseeing client and vendor contracts;
• Providing commercially sensible and cost-effective legal advice for company contract management;
• Drafting basic legal documents for services, Exploration and Drilling projects;
• Ensuring compliance with Oil and Gas laws and regulations;
• Preparing damage claims, resolving buy-sell disputes and property infringements;
• Providing arbitration, litigation, and mediation support;
• Advising on the latest exploration, drilling standards, and explaining exploration and drilling standards to stakeholders;
• Overseeing health and safety and injury claims and offering advice on court cases, as well as meeting and interviewing clients;
• Preparing, reviewing, and negotiating contracts related to exploration, drilling, production, and distribution;
• Ensuring the company complies with all local, national, and international laws and regulations;
• Managing and coordinating legal disputes, including liaising with external counsel;
• Identifying and mitigating legal risks associated with company operations;
• Providing legal advice to management and other departments on various legal matters;
• Assisting in the development and implementation of company policies and procedures;
• Conducting training sessions on legal topics relevant to the oil and gas industry for staff;
• Staying updated on changes in laws and regulations affecting the oil and gas sector.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Law; Master’s degree in Law or specialization in Energy Law is preferred;
• Proven track record of managing contract, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and mitigating legal risks (minimum  5 years);
• Proven experience of oil and gas industry regulations;
• Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction;
• Certifications in Oil and Gas Law or Energy Law (is an advantage);
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams;
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities;
• Proficiency in legal research tools and software;
• Fluent in English (spoken and written);
• Strong ethical standards and integrity.
