Your work environment
According to the 2022 Humanitarian Response Plan, 1.5 million people are now in need of humanitarian assistance and protection in Mozambique. Cabo Delgado province, already one of the most vulnerable and poverty-stricken provinces of Mozambique, has been affected since late 2017 by a low-intensity armed conflict, gaining into intensity since 2021 with attacks perpetrated by non-state armed groups (NSAG) against civilians. There are currently 869,603 internally displaced people in Cabo Delgado.
Action contre la Faim has been working in Mozambique between 1991 and 2001, and has resumed its presence in 2019 via local actors ‘strengthening and in 2021 via direct interventions. ACF’s mission in Mozambique, currently focusing on Cabo Delgado province, is in expansion, with ongoing humanitarian and early recovery portfolio. The field team is composed of 105 people, and to grow in coming months. Our assistance currently focuses on the province of Cabo Delgado, with a field office in Pemba, a field office in Mueda and a sub-office in Macomia.
The coordination team is currently based in Pemba, with a 2023 mid-term objective to shift it to Maputo, the capital city.
Action contre la Faim is implementing a Nutrition and Health, Food Security and Livelihoods and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene integrated portfolio in several districts of Cabo Delgado province. The organization is also one of the Rapid Response Mechanism actors.
The position of WASH Head of Departement is a job creation – you will have the opportunity to design ACF Mozambique WASH strategy.
You will lead the development of the WASH Country strate gy in line with the country strategy for an effective relevant and qualitative implementation of WASH Programs in the Country Office, in accordance with ACF and international standards and national policies.
