The Saipem is seeking a Workboat Pilot.

Purpose of the position

To safely operate and navigate the workboat for offshore logistics support, ensuring personnel and material transfers between vessels and offshore units are carried out efficiently, in full compliance with maritime safety regulations and company procedures and Marine Superintendent/ Offshore Installation Manager (OIM).

How can you support us? Here below your responsibilities

• Pilot and maneuver the workboat during crew transfers, supply runs, towing, and positioning operations.
• Ensure the safe navigation of the vessel in accordance with IMO, flag state, and company marine standards.
• Maintain constant communication with the FPSO control room, Marine Superintendent, and other vessels via VHF.
• Conduct pre-departure checks, verify seaworthiness, and ensure the readiness of all onboard safety equipment.
• Oversee the loading and unloading of cargo, ensuring stability and balance are maintained.
• Manage mooring and unmooring operations safely and efficiently.
• Supervise deck crew and ensure compliance with all HSE policies.
• Record and report all vessel movements, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities in the daily logbook.
• Participate in drills and emergency response exercises as directed by the Offshore Marine Supervisor or OIM.
• Ensure that workboat operations do not interfere with production or subsea activities.

What are we looking for?

• Education: Technical Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field.
• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience as Workboat Pilot, Coxswain, or Tugboat Master in offshore or port operations.
• Languages: Portuguese and Professional English
• Technical Skills: Experience in offshore oilfield logistics support, vessel-to-vessel operations, and FPSO support activities.
• Skilled in vessel navigation, mooring, and towing operations.
• Knowledge of radar, GPS, AIS, and electronic chart systems.
• Understanding of maritime regulations (COLREGs, SOLAS, MARPOL).
• Mechanical aptitude for basic troubleshooting of propulsion and deck machinery.
• Strong understanding of marine safety procedures, dynamic positioning (DP awareness is an advantage).
• Certification: Valid STCW Certificate (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping).
• Workboat or Tugboat License / Boatmaster Certificate recognized by Flag State.
• Valid Seaman Book and Offshore Medical Certificate.
• Basic Safety Training (BST/BOSIET) and HUET certification required.
• IT Skills: Microsoft Tools.
